No me he tomado el trabajo de investigar cuánto tiempo hace que el hombre ha intentado cuadrar el círculo. Una prueba de la imaginación, tenacidad y esperanza legítima. El círculo como uno lo ve es tan personal, íntimo diría, por lo que no resulta fácil lograrlo. Puede ser un ejercicio que dure toda la vida en un intento ocioso e inútil. El hombre es un ser complejo, difícil resulta descifrarlo cuando se pone obsesivo y cree que lo sabe todo. El hombre camina en dos pies porque no tiene otra alternativa. El hombre se sorprende asimismo cuando se mira al espejo y constata que está vivo. El hombre ya voló hacia el sol y quemó sus alas. Ícaro, hijo del arquitecto Dédalo, ignoró las indicaciones y advertencias de su padre. La mitología nos suele dejar no pocas enseñanzas aún en el siglo XXI.
Algunos pueden considerar la cuadratura de la circunferencia una ilusión; otros, una muestra de la capacidad perturbadora del ocio humano. No recuerdo que un mago de circo haya intentado realizar la prueba como un acto legítimo de magia e ilusión pura, para asombrar mentes vírgenes que solo buscan pasar unos minutos divertidos en compañía de amigos y de la ilusión.
Ahora con tantas tecnologías disruptivas y la Inteligencia Artificial, en pleno proceso de asombro, quizás se construya una nueva ilusión y mundo imaginario que termine por cuadrar el círculo. Antes que enciendan la mecha y acompañemos a los dinosaurios en el más allá. Eso espero. El mundo pareciera hoy avocado a la cuadratura de ese círculo imposible. La paz y los derechos del hombre comparten un tiempo de desilusión en la diaria cotidianeidad. Parece mentira, pero el hombre se mueve aún por espejismos planetarios y no atina a resolver los asuntos básicos aquí en la tierra.
Dante Alighieri, el mismísimo autor de la Divina Comedia (no estábamos tan errados de su importancia), al igual que muchos desde hace más de 15 siglos a de C, han intentado, en vano, resolver la inocente pregunta de la cuadratura del círculo, una metáfora a lo imposible. Dante, al parecer no estaba seguro que existiera humanamente resultado alguno.
En grado de ilusión, el personaje principal de Ulises de Joyce, Leopold Bloom, se da por vencido de su esfuerzo, que según él, le otorgaría una gran fortuna. Una ilusión literaria al cuadrado de un círculo imaginario.

The Challenging Futile Squaring of the Circle
I haven’t taken the time to research how long man has been trying to square the circle. A testament to imagination, tenacity, and legitimate hope. The circle, as one sees it, is so personal, intimate, I would say, which makes it difficult to achieve. It can be a lifelong exercise in a futile and idle attempt. Man is a complex being; it’s difficult to decipher him when he becomes obsessive and thinks he knows everything. Man walks on two feet because he has no other option. Man surprises himself when he looks in the mirror and realizes he’s alive. Man has already flown toward the sun and burned his wings. Icarus, son of the architect Daedalus, ignored his father’s instructions and warnings. Mythology often leaves us with no few lessons, even in the 21st century.
Some may consider the squaring of the circle an illusion; others, a demonstration of the disturbing capacity of human idleness. I don’t recall a circus magician ever trying this test as a legitimate act of magic and pure illusion, to astonish innocent minds that only seek a few minutes of fun in the company of friends and the illusion.
Now, with so many disruptive technologies and Artificial Intelligence, in the midst of a state of wonder, perhaps a new illusion and imaginary world will be built that will finally square the circle. Before the fuse is lit and we join the dinosaurs in the beyond. That’s what I hope. The world today seems devoted to squaring that impossible circle. Peace and human rights share a time of disillusionment in the daily routine. It seems unbelievable, but man still moves by planetary mirages and fails to solve the basic issues here on earth.

Dante, it seems, wasn’t sure any human solution existed.
In a degree of illusion, the main character of Joyce’s Ulysses, Leopold Bloom, gives up on his effort, which he believes would have granted him great fortune. A literary illusion squared from an imaginary circle.
