Busqué hasta encontrar/I searched until I found

Busqué hasta encontrar las palabras,

que podían decir, decirme, algo más,

creí que despertando lo desconocido,

descubriría en ellas,

la virtuosidad del silencio,

lo inefable, pero aún así,

sigo intentando con las que

no expresaban nada,

de lo sugerido, esperado

y desde un principio

me motivaron a persistir

en el poema,

una y otra vez hasta lograr

el silencio absoluto,

definitivo, de las palabras.

I searched until I found the words

that might speak —

or whisper to me — something more.

I thought that by stirring the unknown

I would uncover in them

the art of silence,

the unsayable;

yet still I try

with those that revealed nothing

of what I hoped for, imagined,

and that from the very beginning

compelled me to remain

within the poem,

returning to it again and again

until I reached

the final, absolute

silence

of words.
