El poema
es absolutamente libre,
independiente, soberano,
hasta donde son posibles,
sin duda, las palabras.
Un río que en su cauce
el mar recibe, abraza
y expande infinitamente.
El poema es un himno,
aparentemente solitario,
comienza por respirar,
conocerse así mismo,
a tientas dar unos pasos,
buscar las palabras
que el poema sabe
que lo han encontrado,
que es él y ningún otro,
porque es único.

The free poem
The poem
is absolutely free,
independent, sovereign,
as far as words
can possibly go,
no doubt.
A river within its course
received by the sea,
embraced
and infinitely expanded.
The poem is a hymn,
apparently solitary,
it begins by breathing,
by knowing itself,
groping, taking a few steps,
seeking the words
that the poem knows
have found it,
that it is itself and no other,
because it is unique.
